It sounds like a movie super snooze fest to you but know that your significant other is dying to see the new Valentines Day Movie, probably on V-Day! What to do? She is giving you the Fandango movie vibe. Mooning over Ashton. Egging you on – day after day! The good news: movie day doesn’t hit until a week after Super Bowl day. The bad news: no Super Bowl day as an excuse not to go to this film; you’ll just miss a college basketball game or two and not even the NCAA tournament. I don’t want to hear about hockey. I married a Canadian.
So what’s a guy to do? Take her to the movie or not? First, we must understand what makes the movie so compelling to women besides its obvious star power? If we use our fMRI imaging and look deep into the cerebral cortex of a woman, what do we find? Hmm. Images of hearts beating together like metronomes. White chocolate truffles. Soft blood-red roses. Lingering kisses. Spooning in bed. Romantic walks-and-talks along the river. Oh oh . . . are all of these in the movie? I know it takes your breath away. Well, there are sure to be some if not all of these very images in this movie. Her inner life becoming manifest on the silver screen with her boyfriend next to her! We are talking mega doses of oxytocin, the cuddling hormone, getting released under these circumstances. And who might be the beneficiary of this gushing? Why the fine fellow who took her to see the movie! Okay, so still not convinced that you should subject yourself to potential movie drivel?

To help you get over the hump, here are five reasons why you should most definitely take her to see the movie either on V-day or another day:
- You can show her that you are actually thinking about next steps in the relationship. Kind of, anyway.
- It almost completely discharges your V-Day gift obligations. Simply add some roses or chocolate to the movie and poof! You are done for the day. And you don’t have to sweat it any more.
- While watching the movie, she will probably put her hand on your thigh or an even more interesting place….
- You will be like hunky English actor, Ed Westwick, who plays the womanizer on Gossip Girl. He says, “I’m not a player. I’m a romantic. I’m going to get a tattoo that says ‘I heart romance.’” (people.com)
- The movie has not only Anne Hathaway, but the two Jessica’s (Alba & Biel) in it. C’mon be honest with yourself.
- (OK, OK, 6 reasons) She went to see the Avatar movie with you and you probably picked the day. And didn’t even leave after the first hour of this 2 1/2 hour movie.
Bottom line: Take her to see the V-Day Movie. Either on V-Day or another day . . . but do it! This is a movie viewing investment with significant ROI. And you will thank me for it!
